Mother’s Day 2008
By KK on Jun 2, 2008 in Mommy Files, Thinker
I know, I know Mother’s Day has come and gone but I haven’t made a post about it yet. May is gardening season you see and some posts take more time than others. My Little K asked her daddy to take her to Micheal’s to buy the materials for this card/poster. Daddy showed her how to use the rub-on transfers and she did the rest. As you can see she had so much fun doing it with the stickers, rub-ons and other blings.
On Mother’s Day, my dear hubby cooked a special breakfast of fried rice, turkey bacon and eggs. He didn’t stop there and even went to buy some fresh soft shell crabs and fixed them for lunch.
Since we were both busy in the garden, we just grilled up these really good chicken and turkey sausages(raised with no antibiotics no nitrates added) for dinner. (that’s another post)
The big brown beautiful pot is one of my Mother’s Day presents. Actually, Mother’s Day was stretched out for the whole month of May. I have been ogling the pot at our favorite nursery(How Sweet It Is, Eden, MD) since I first saw it but I really didn’t want to pay the money for it. It’s glazed only in the outside, I noticed that the plants don’t like the glazed inside. Then one day, my wonderful husband picked it up and took it to the counter.
I don’t claim to be a green thumb but I enjoy looking at the pretty colorful flowers so I make an effort to plant them. I prefer the planting flowers over the cut-flowers during the warm months because it’s just a joy to watch them grow and blossom(not to mention more bang for the buck). My secret: I stick with the ProvenWinners flowers because they are true to their name and they thrive under my care.

Good for you. We were all sick during mother’s day and the father got the worst flu ever. To put us in festive mood, I cooked palabok and shanghai lumpia for my boys.
I don’t know what those small flowers are called, looks like mini petunias. I had to uproot the same flowers when it started to show some pests. Might hit my other plants.

Hi Lovelyn,
I’m sorry to hear about that. The palabok and lumpiang shanghai sounds great!
Yes they are mini petunias, they are very prolific bloomers. So far I haven’t seen pest on the flowers.
Hi Raqgold,
You should have loaded up on crabs when you went to the Philippines. With the softshells, you can pretty much eat everything.

Hi Ate Girlie,
That’s good to hear that you are also going to plant some potted flowers. I think it’ll be great for you to have the hot weather plants.
