BP Solar Decathlon

BP is a company involved with exploration, researching, producing marketing of natural energy resources. Energy in which the whole world depend on.

One of the most available energy source is the sun with it’s solar power.

BP’s top priority is to look for highly sustainable and renewable source of energy that is safe for the environment and the people. With this commitment, BP is proud to partner with the U.S. Department of Energy and sponsor the Solar Decathlon. This event only occurs every other year. Twenty(20) university teams from around the world will design, build and operate livable, energy-efficient, and completely solar-powered houses. The BP Solar Decathlon culminates in a week-long competition on the National Mall in Washington, DC from October 11 to 19, 2007.

Check out how the 20 university teams compete. The list includes: Cornell University, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Lawrence Technological University, MIT, New York Institute of Technology, University of Maryland(Go Maryland!), see the complete list of teams.

As part of their support for the competition, BP has created a blog in which all of the teams as well as an on-site reporter will write posts throughout the competition. Visit the site: www.bpsolardecathlon.com.

This a great opportunity to learn more about how innovation can help us look for alternative sources of energy. Being aware of how much effort it takes to produce energy would somehow help us pitch in by conserving consumption.
