Self Exam: Breast Cancer Prevention

icon_comcast_tcm8-323590.gifI have been meaning to write about breast cancer after I had my annual check-up with my ob-gyn 2 months ago. So there I was laying on the examination “bunk” with knees spread apart and I was thinking to myself if my dear lady doctor has ever gotten tired of looking at the different shapes and size of women’s privates. Just imagine having to go to work every single day of your life and having to check different female’s reproductive system more than 10 times a day! The thought made the cold duck lip more bearable this time.

Part of the routine is to check for lumps in the chest area. And she told me that I should check myself in the shower. It’s easy, just put your left hand at the back of your head and your right palm will have to feel for lumps by gently moving your hand in a circular motion in the breast area. It’s good to check at least once a month after your period so that you will be able to tell if there is something abnormal. For a more clinical and detailed explanation: self breast exam

Early detection is the only way to fight breast cancer for now while they are still looking for the causes and cures.

    Hi Raqgold,
Maybe I should ask her next time. I have a lady doctor and she belongs to a huge practice. I like her because she is so motherly. She has a good team. When I gave birth, a doctor from her team was always checking up on me.
