Driving my Geek Husband Nuts!

Being married to a senior Java software engineer is not easy when I do my version of “coding.” You see Information Technology is such a large field and not everyone in IT are programmers. My strength is being able to talk to geeks: network engineers, system administrators, database administrators, developers, web designers and system analysts then translate it to ordinary users to non-techy executives. I realized early on that hard core programming is not my cup of tea so I pursued Oracle database administration. So anyway, my dear husband follows his high standards of good coding and deployment practice. It drive him nuts that I’m doing this live on the ‘production site’ instead of a test site then making a push. We normally don’t argue over silly things but good coding practice is too much ingrained in him. He wants his code as elegant as possible.  Well commented too.  My “Get ‘er done” style bothers him so much. Well, he is right. You would be surprised though how many companies are making changes live. That’s when they call it a “computer glitch.”
