Solace in the Sunflower Field

sunflowers5-copy.jpg

I haven’t mentioned anything about our furry family member much because it’s been a difficult subject for me to talk about. After numerous visits to the vets, specialists and several tests(racked-up fees that are equivalent to a brand new beefed up Macbook, we sacrificed DIY home improvement projects[the unfinished basement] to cope with the costs) , he has been diagnosed with an aggressive type of cancer. The doctors gave him 3-6 months last Spring. They gave us an option of surgery that would be around $4K but can’t guarantee his quality of life post-surgery. We have chosen to keep him intact and he also has a heart murmur that puts him at a risk under anesthesia. We did our best to give him the best care he can possibly get but we chose to have him alive as long as he is comfortable. We tried very hard to go on with our

normal everyday life this Summer knowing that anytime we may loose our beloved C. What do you do when you find out that days of a family member are numbered? We can’t stay depressed and feel sorry for ourselves all the time. We seek out places that lift our spirits and try to make the most out of our time together. Aren’t we supposed to live each day as if it was the last anyway?

Oh field of sunflowers, please cheer us up. Help us put smiles on our faces.

i can see sadness despite the smiles Tin. How is lil K taking it? does she know?

When Omega our rottie died of heat stroke last summer, I cried, kitang kita ko pagbagsak nya, we all witnessed it, all 7 of us here in the house. If I see his doghouse, I still feel sad. Even Josh cant bear hearing about stories of Omega.

Given the already limited time for your furry one, let those be happy, memorable times.

I once had a sunflower template. Sunflowers are just so refreshing like you wonderful pictures here!

I’m sorry to hear that. When my furry friend Miko got sick at his old age, I knew it was just a matter of time. It was very hard for me but I accepted it hoping he’ll be happy in the next life. I spent most of my time during his last few days. I talked to him, stroked his fur gently and whispered how much I love him. I thanked him for being a great friend.

Try to spend quality time with your furry family member and make his remaining days memorable. Pray that he won’t have to go through pain.

    Hello Everyone,
Thank you for your time making comments I do appreciate your kind words.

@ Ate Marie, yes for some reason sunflowers makes us happy, I wonder if its the color yellow?

@ Raqgold, ah don’t hate the bees, without them there wouldn’t be fruits and veggies. ;)

@ Julie, we try to take him everywhere we can to spend time with him.

@ Mary, I’m sorry to make you teary-eyed, dogs love us back ten-fold when we love them.

@ Auntie Mila, thanks for finally commenting :) love you back.

@ Ate Girlie, I’m sorry to hear about your Omega. It’s traumatic to see anyone/anything breathe their last.

@ Lynn, Thanks for dropping by.

@ Rach, Sorry about your Miko. How old was he?
re: field of sunflowers, it was an accidental find. We didn’t know it existed in this place. I hope you you can see a sunflower field too one day.

    Ate Girlie,
Lil K just knows that C is sick all the time and that he is old(he is 13 but usually Shelties can reach 16). But she will ask out of the blue if dogs go to the same heaven as people do.

Tina, hugs to your family. Our cat can be a pest sometimes but it’ll be a very sad day if something bad happens to him. How much for your family kaya when you obviously love C. That’s an awesome sunflower field! I love sunflowers so much that I had a painting of it during my younger days.

Tina! Ang ganda ng sunflowers. We never had them that huge back home in baguio.. Though di naman magpapatalo ang ating marapait, di ba? :D

Your dog looks beautiful. I hope he is doing good.

@ Geri, Thanks. C has been with my husband for 12 years. He is 13 years old. Nag-ala Van Gogh ka when you were a kid, that’s neat!

@ Chateau, Thanks. They are the large variety. The sunflowers in Baguio are special to me too. I hope there are still alot of them left.

your pet is exactly having the same cancer as my boss with butler has.
She, the dog was diagnosed having cancer, 13years old, and was injected to sleep(die) last may 31.
My employers were devastated. They keep the dog as their child(wala kasi sila anak).

The day she was brought to a vet to die, the dog understand her fate, doesnt want to go out.
Madame was crying, butler and me didnt know what to say.

    It was a sad day.

But they dont want the dog to suffer, they decide, its time he has to go.

    Hi Ate Amy,
It’s kinda sad for me for a couple who can afford to support children not have any.

I can just imagine how difficult it was for your bosses to decide about putting their dog to sleep so that she won’t feel pain anymore.
