Forth of July 2007

Two days after a fun filled weekend, we decided to have a quiet celebration of the US Independence Day as we remember all the men and women who have and still are sacrificing their lives for us to enjoy the freedom we have today. Whether I agree with the war or not, there are sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, dads and moms out there in the front line dealing with it while their love ones await their return.
We are only 30 minutes away from The Mall(Washington, DC) where the big shindig was but the thought of being in a crowded place with a little 5 year old was not ideal. That morning I was speaking to D about wanting to take pictures of cows for a post for Pinoy Moms Network that I’m working on. D suggested that we go to the farm 15 minutes West away from us. It sounded like a great idea since the overcast sky was perfect for it.
Check out our Bucolic Chic drive at Maple Lawn, Maryland.
We went home and got ready for our fishing and nature trip to our newly found undisclosed secluded beach area. We decided to have a take-out for food and we called several of our favorite places but were closed for the Holiday. Good thing that Panera Bread was open.
I took the photo above while we were on a bridge going 50 mph. It’s amazing that it came out clearer than it could have been with all the shaking. Something to learn every day.
While walking in the woods we noticed that the wild raspberries were ripe for the picking and along the way we stopped by every few steps to enjoy the Mother Nature’s sweet and sour treats.
It was a good fishing day and we caught enough for two meals. I joined Little K for a swim but had to get out after 10 minutes or so because we both got stung by a jelly fish(what a party pooper). We haven’t seen any jellyfish floating around earlier. The sting hurt but we but we didn’t let it ruin such a fun day. For the rest of the afternoon we were just content on the shore, help D reel in the fish and just enjoyed a setting fit for a Huckle Berry Finn movie. Nothing beats the feeling of having sand in between your toes.
We got home on time for the fireworks display on TV live from The Mall, Washington, DC.

I love the photos, mukhang ang sarap ng raspberries. never tried that.

Hi Ate Marie,
Raspberries are sweet and sour. I don’t think there are raspberries in the Philippines. The only cultivated berry that I know of there is the strawberry.

You made me miss those berries aside from knowing just now it’s English term - raspberry hihihi…We call that “Pinit” back in Tublay.
