How Vain Are You?
By KK on Jun 27, 2007 in Thinker
I have been tagged by Hipncoolmomma to write about my sense of vanity. I took the vanity test and the result:
You Are 34% Vain |
![]() Okay, so you’re slightly vain from time to time, but you’re not superficial at all. You are realistic. You know that looks matter. You just try to make them matter less. |
I can say that the result is pretty accurate. I guess I am not that too worried about my looks because I’ve been told many times that I was pretty when I was a child. hehehe I have received compliments on my cute nose, rosy cheeks and chinky eyes.
I am very much aware that people treat me the way I look. Example: I went to a Clinique booth with just my T-shirt and jeans with no make-up on, the sales ladies at the counter weren’t asking me if I needed something. Then a sales lady came to me and asked me something in Spanish. I answered in English that I wanted to buy a bottle of Happy Heart. I must have looked like someone who can’t afford their products.
My 7 Beauty/Vanity/Fashion sense Facts:
- I can get out of the house and go to the grocery store without make-up on. I am still wondering if I am violating any protocol of getting out in public without any make-up on. I just find it silly to spend 15 minutes inorder to look picture perfect to make a 5 minute grocery run. Who am I trying to impress anyway? The cashiers? I’m just lucky of not looking like a ghost without artificial color. Even movie stars look ‘faded’ when they are in public without make-up. I just make sure that I have showered, brushed my teeth and combed my hair. The most effort I have put on looking good was on job interviews.
- I don’t try too hard to keep up with the latest trends. I have to follow certain guidelines for shopping for my body type. As much as possible, I prefer natural fabics that make my skin breathe so that I’m comfortable.
- I refuse to buy another pair of jeans unless I loose weight. Right now, I wear size 6 jeans.
- I spend a whole lot less than an average American lady on hair and nails. I couldn’t see myself spending more than $200/year.
- I only have the big kaboodle on the hair salon when I go to the Philippines.
- The most I have spent on being vain is on my teeth. I can justify being vain when it directly affects my health, like dental health or excess weight.
- I guess I have to work on being more vain………….. it’s a fact of life(like it or not) that we are judged based on what people see. I believe that it’s OK to be vain within reason(meaning not getting into deep debt just to get a breast and butt implants). A little powder here and there makes me look more urbane.
A dose of vanity is good so that I don’t become losyang( letting yourself go). Caring enough on how I present myself to the world makes a difference.
Interested on knowing how vain you are? Take the test too!

Tina, we’re about the same in the vanity barometer, although most of the time I do use pressed powder and lipstick when I venture out of the house (none, when exercising tho). Pity the person who can’t live without make-up
.
____________
Hi Geri,
You’re more urbane than me because you use powder and lipstick when in public

i can’t go for the faded look, mukha akong may sakit, hehe. wala akong kilay, i mean bilang lang pala, i’m too pale, i have kawawa looking eyes. i use foundation pero very faint lang naman, kasi i notice i get zits pa di ako foundation…foundation blocks the dust/dirt. now i can’t go out without my betty boop lashes ^_^
i used to go for fads too, pero nagmellow na ako, i want to be more conventional now…the classic look, but once in a while i indulge
salamat ulit for doing the tag Tina
___________
. I enjoyed doing the test
Hi Ate Girlie,
Ako naman baliktad, kailangang ng hedge trimmer for my eyebrows, makapal. Sometimes I forget to pluck and I end up looking like Tarzan, hahaha. I only use foundation when it’s really neccessary because I thought it was causing my face to have zits. My facial skin has gotten so sensitive eversince I had gotten pregnant with my daughter, until now my face acts up! What foundation do you use?
Even on tees and jeans you look great with your belly dancer abs

hi tina, just dropping by. ive been reading your posts before. sana pala you told the clinique saleslady, dont judge the book by its cover, im not a book (as said by melanie marquez) he he.
. I may one day take some Spanish class. That’s a funny quote from Melanie Marquez, her beauty makes up for barok English.

Hi Rowena,
I appreciate your time reading my ramblings. I kinda wished I was fluent in Spanish to have conversed with her

Hi Tina! Oh I use youngblood mineral foundation, very mild lang sya, parang tama ang claim ng mga mineral make-ups na sans chemicals sila. I think you can buy them at sephora. Bare escentuals is really nice too, mineral make up din sya

the inside of the heart that is peaceble and soft makes a person beautiful.
Buhok ko, since July 2006 pa nagupitan, sa Pinas! lol
____________
Hi Ate Amy,
Mas mahal ang pagupit diyan ano? My cousin who came to visit from Holland last year said that it’s cheaper to have a hair cut here.

Hi KK,
Naku, you are not that kikay nga. I’m sure, nothing beats taking care of your health the most like you do. Wearing size 6 jeans? wow, good for you. Keep on, and you can buy another pair no problem. Just a different style same size.

Hi Leah,
I will work to be more Kikay. Size 6 but I’m short! hehehe
