Spiritual Journey in One Hour
By KK on Apr 22, 2007 in Soul Searcher, Thinker
I was sitting in the church today and I remembered a philosopher’s(can’t remember who) take on religion. He says that “even if God did not exist, it would have been necessary for man to invent him.” Spending 16 years of my life in Catholic schools, I was made to memorize doctrines of the church. But I could not remember my teachers giving emphasis on: why it matters to believe.
Lo and behold, as if someone knew what I was thinking- the sermon was answering my question. So many tragedies are happening in our world today, the latest was the Virginia Tech massacre. When innocent lives are taken unjustly, there are no answers to the question why. These things happen and I cannot fathom the depth of the reasons. Clinging to my Christian faith makes me feel that there is hope. It does matter to believe, without believing I would be lost.
My deepest sympathy for all the loved ones of the teachers and students who perished. May they find a ray of hope in their lives in the midst of this tragedy. May the victim’s souls rest in peace.

KK, Yea, it pays to believe and stay faithful in the Lord. Sometimes in times of trouble and depression I also question the Lord why? Trials and tribulations are just a part to test our faith and the Lord will not give us these if we can’t carry them.I was born a Christian (Baptist) grew up to be a regular church attender BUT as a plain human I always stumble BUT again whenever I start to or thinks of doin something bad….. may pumepreno parang may nagsasabi “hoy! sobra ka na!” I think its my christian foundation which had molded me….my faith. ooooppps sermon na to.
The past weeks I was also troubled with the headlines, that Virginia massacre and the murder of Julia Campbell in Ifugao, Benguet. Grabe dami ng masasamang tao.

Hi Ate Marie,
It’s great to know that you also hold on to your faith to cope with the different things happening to your life.
I was also following the case of Julia Campbell, it’s really sad that there are people who want to take lives off other people.
