Your Inner Child
By KK on Mar 15, 2007 in Mommy Files, Thinker
One thing I love about being a parent is having an excuse to be a kid again. I’m sure each one of us has that inner child just waiting to be rediscovered. Responsibilities and worldly concerns makes us forget what having fun is all about.
Last Sunday, Little K was invited to a birthday party at Pump It Up. It is basically an indoor playground with inflatable equipment(slides and obstacles). We were told by the hostess to dress up to play because the facilities were rated for adults too. My husband and I were eager to join instead of getting the role of spectators. We maximized our 1.5 hours at the facility. We used the slides again and again. We went through the obstacle courses as much as our physical ability can allow us. It was great letting go of the inhibitions, even if just for a while. What a wonderful feeling knowing that inflated cushions are ready to catch us when we fall. For a few blissful hours, we were children once again.
Rediscovering our inner child is very theraputic, it makes us remember how to laugh with glee and squeal with delight. More importantly it promotes a positive outlook in life. When was the last time you played like a child?
General Surgeon’s Warning: Siguraduhin na may kasama kayong bata para hindi kayo pagkamalang luka-luka. Make sure you have your child with you so they don’t mistake you having a few loose screws in the head.

That looks really fun! I love taking time to join my son in some fun time too. It’s a great way to bond with each other.
Thanks for sharing. Happy weekend!

mommy tina/KK, i’d like to say that we all have an inner child attitude within us, it’s just reinforced the moment that we became parents, or better, as mothers.
like you, i also playing around with my son, no matter how childish i may seem. i love discovering his world and joining him in it. there was one time that my son and i were watching Dora, one of his fave shows, my husband was just amused looking at us, especially how i sang to the “we did it” song with matching dancing pa. para daw akong bata.

Hi Julie,
It was fun :).
Hi Rach,
It’s great that you take the time to bond with your son, time just flies.
Hi Feng,
It’s wonderful that you can play around with your son and discover with him.
Hi Sexymom,
It’s tiring to be always a grown-up so we try to be children. lol.

The inner child — I like that. One never grows old inside, does one? does it — no matter how gray and grizzled he or she becomes.
Yes, a child brings out the child in us. That’s why we baby talk, we play it-bulaga, we ask ‘where’s the light,’ ‘where are the stars?’ How wonderful to relive, if only vicariously from the sharing of young mothers like you, KK/Tina.

Hahaha! “Siguraduhing may batang kasama para di mapagkamalang uka-luka!” Baliktad na talaga ang mundo ngayon, dati ang dapat e - Kids should be attended to by adults when playing… Pero ngayon, adults should be accompanied by kids when playing.. hahaha!

Hi Annamanila,
Thanks for dropping by.
I believe that when we ignore our inner child we loose our sense of humour. So I think the real fountain of youth is really within us.
Hi Rhodora,
Baliktad na talaga…hehehe
